40 and Fab!

Hi there!

Today I have a 40th birthday card that I was asked to make by a friend. I love to use flags/buntings on my projects, and if you have been following my blog lately you will know that I also love to sew on my cards as well. I have combined both of these elements for this card.

I have used the new Framelit dies to make the base for the 40. I used the dies to cut and emboss a piece of 'Pretty in Pink' Cardstock. The card base is Crumbcake and I have used various DSP for my background and bunting flags.

I have used both a straight stitch and a zig zag stitch on the card and have given a tattered look by rolling and tearing the DSP.

I added some coloured rhinestones as a finishing touch.

The inside of the card was decorated with a matching framelit and a sentiment flag. The card reads '40....and fabulous!'.

Please leave a comment, I always love to read them!
Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome Baby

Today I have a baby boy card to show you. Like yesterday, this card uses a stamp set that is getting its first inking. 'Up in the Air' is another hostess set that I fell in love with. I think it will get a lot of use. I just love the cute, whimsical bird images.

I originally made this card for a sketch challenge, but didn't get it posted in time. Now I can't remember which challenge it was for! Sorry. But I will share the card anyway.

I paired the 'Up in the Air' stamp set with some Everyday Enchantment DSP. I used some Bashful Blue and Crumbcake CS.

Don't look too closely at my zig zag stitching! I am still refining my skills to sew in a straight line!

I added a frilly edge using one of the edgelit dies. I just love this edge it is so pretty and frilly! I finished off with a Vanilla Seam Binding Bow, topped with a Twitterpatted button and a Linen Thread bow.

I used a corner rounder punch to give the card a nice soft finish. I am really happy with how this card turned out.

I decorated the inside of the card with some matching DSP strip and a lovely sentiment.

Thanks for looking today. Please leave me some comment love if you can spare the time.

Enjoy the ride...

A friend had asked me to make a wedding card for a young, modern couple. I always find it hard to get inspiration when making wedding and christening cards. It takes me a while to get an idea and to get on a roll. I don't have any wedding/christening type stamp sets, but this had to be an nontraditional card anyway, so I looked for inspiration in the stamps I own.

I had a lightening bolt moment one morning when the perfect idea struck me for this young modern couple. I decided to use the set 'Pedal Presents', teamed with a computer generated sentiment to complete my card. This was the first inking for this set. I loved this set straight away, but have not had a chance to play with it until now. I think that this set will get a lot of use, especially when making cards for hubby and my FIL as they are both keen cyclists. I may just have to ink the stamp without the basket for the boys!

I used an old favourite colour combo of Pretty in Pink, Pool Party and Whisper White.  I used the bike image and added the hearts to the basket, which I glittered. I also added some punched pink hearts (using the Owl Punch), which I also glittered and placed on the card as if they were flying out of the bike basket as it moved along.

I generated the sentiment on the computer and placed it onto a sentiment flag, which I added to a seam binding bow, finished with a pink Rhinestone Brad.

On the inside I finished off the sentiment and added a portion of the bicycle image. I also added two more glittered hearts to symbolise the Bride and the Groom.

In the end I was very happy with my card. It had a clean, young and modern look, and my friend was also very happy with the result!

I am going to enter this card into a new challenge that I stumbled upon called CASology.  The aim is to make a Clean and Simple card, using the cue word for the week as inspiration. This week the cue word is 'happy'. What better way to interpret happy than with a wedding card. One of the happiest days of your life!

Thanks for stopping by today!
Please leave a comment, it always makes my day.
